Tennessee is located in the southeastern United States, bordered by Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri. Its highest point is Clingmans Dome, at 6643 feet in elevation, which can be reached part-way by vehicle, but the uppermost part is accessible by foot only. Gorgeous mountain views greet the traveler throughout the state, from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Blue Ridge Mountains, to the Iron Mountains. Much of the forest is protected, and provides ample room for visitors to hike, camp and tour a wild cave at the Lost Sea, in Sweetwater. Tennessee has more caves than any other state. For those who enjoy the life of the metropolis, Tennessee boasts the busy cities of Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga.
