The state of Minnesota is located in the Midwest region and is bordered by Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Canada. It is the 12th largest state with an area of 86,943 square miles and a population of 5,197,621 (as of 2007). Almost sixty percent of residents live in Minneapolis/St. Paul or the Twin Cities, the core of transportation, business, and industry. It is the nation’s largest producer of sugar beets, sweet corn, green peas, and farm-raised turkeys. It is also a big contributor to forestry and mining. It is also home to the largest shopping mall, Mall of America.
