The state covers 33,000 miles of coastline on 3 seas: The Artic, Pacific and Bering. Alaska is approximately 1,390 miles tall, 2210 miles wide and the average elevation if 1,900 feet. Alsaka was bought from Russian in 1867 for $7.2 million. The state flower of Alaska is the Forget-me-not and the state gem is the Jade. The flag was selected in a contest for Alaska students in 1926. The state seal was designed in 1910.
