Office space demand increasing in Fairfield County

CB Richard Ellis released its Third Quarter 2009 Fairfield County Market Report this week.

Leasing activity, according to the report, has climbed 53% from levels in Q2 as office space demand rises.

Despite this, the market still registered negative net absorbtion of more that 1.8 million square feet year-to-date.

New Marlboro office space for Special Olympics Massachusetts

Special Olympics has acquired a new headquarters in Marlboro.

The 26,000 square foot building cost $10.8 million to build.

The new building contains office space, conference rooms, a fitness room, a soccer field and a gym.

Across Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Inland Empire, 51 million square feet of office space has no occupants.

Office vacancy is thought to be a product of swathes of redundancies.

School chief faces eviction from office space

Charles Flowers, the County Schools Chief for Cook County, has been given two weeks to pay the rent on his office space.

Flowers owes $10,000 to the Westchester School District in rent on the property.

District Attorney Jeff Goelitz said “The Board of Education [wants to] recoup the unpaid rent, and they want toe gain possession of the office space.”

New San Rafael centre meets demand for office space

A new complex in San Rafael will add 158,000 square feet of office space in San Rafael.

According to contractors, there is serious interest in 18% of the ne San Rafael Corporate Centre.

The new build includes two buildings, both on Lindaro Street, and a parking garage.

120,000 square foot office space planned in Anaheim

Sares-Regis Group has plans to develop a 120,000 square foot office space complex in Anaheim, CA.

The development will be made up of three buildings, two of 30,000 square feet and one of 60,000 square feet.

The buildings will include 2,000 square feet of messanine and improved office space.

Washington landlords offer cheap office space

As landlords attempt to keep tenants happy, cheap office space deals are cropping up all over Washington.

Landlords are faced with high vacancy rates if they do not offer tenants rent breaks, lower rents or free giveaways such a parking with their office spaces.

In June, Alrington County signed a 13 year lease on a new office space in Washington Blvd., for just $30 per square foot.

Freelancers clamour to rent New York office space

As unemployment has risen to 9% in the city, freelancers are thriving.

This accounts for the sudden demand for small, one or two desk office spaces as freelancers attempt to find space that will help them maintain discipline.

Manhattan office space vacancy at 15 year high

Reuters reports that the vacancy rates for midtown class A properties has reached its highest point in 15 years.

The Manhattan vacancy rate for office spaces in general is 13.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, rents in the area have fallen by 11 per cent.

Stamford commercial property decline slowing

Connecticut firm Boxwood Means Inc. reports that the drop in rental rates for class B and C office space in Connecticut is slowing.

Head of the firm Randy Fuchs said that though class A space had suffered serious vacancy rates, the impact of the recession had not been as great in class B and C commercial properties.

Similarly, rents have been more level in the B and C categories than in the top office spaces.
